Product placement : Big business

As traditional advertising methods are getting less and less effective, marketers are always keen on finding new ways to reach their potential consumers. Over the years, product placement has shown its effectiveness as an alternative. Big companies like Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Anheuser-Busch now have in-house divisions solely created to read new film scripts to try to find a good spot where they can show their brand in a cool way.

But that’s not all. There is a company called Creative Film Promotions, which has designed a special computer program. Just by typing in some keywords, the program will try to find the best spots in a movie to put in some product placement. Knowing recent movies can have up to 20 minutes of product placement in it, you can imagine what amounts of money are involved in this new advertising business.
